Remember when we had to hand-calc all the expansion rates on that big Chicago job?
I was on the Lakeshore project back in '08, and we spent three whole days with calculators and paper charts just for the boiler feed system. Then the lead brought in this new software, Pipe-Flo, on a single laptop. We cut that time down to about four hours. It felt like cheating back then, but now I can't imagine doing a big install without it. Anyone else have a specific job that forced you to switch to a digital tool for good?

Heard a guy on a podcast say that kind of manual calc work was basically a full-time quality check. You're so deep in the numbers you spot problems you'd miss just reading a printout. Still, I wouldn't go back to it.

Total game changer, right? We had the same thing happen with load calcs on a hospital retrofit. My old boss fought the software tooth and nail until he saw it spit out a full report in twenty minutes. What was the hardest job you did before switching over?
