Spent $900 on a fancy welding helmet, wish I kept my old one

I got the Optrel Crystal 2.0 after my buddy in Gary talked it up for months. The auto-darkening is slick but the battery died on me mid-job last Thursday and I had to finish a 6 inch fillet weld squinting with the manual shade. My $180 Jackson from 2019 never let me down, but I'm wondering if anyone else had a pricey helmet brick at the worst time or if I just got a bad unit.

I used to think cheap helmets were the only smart buy, but those $900 ones sure changed my mind on reliability.
