Tuesday was a 4am to 7pm disaster, boiler side of a feedwater heater
Had a rupture on a 6-inch feedwater line at the paper mill up in Longview. Got the call at 4am, drove two hours, and spent the whole day fighting steam leaks while the plant kept pushing to fire it back up. We had to cut out a 3-foot section of pipe, bevel it, and fit a new spool with only a torch and a chain hoist because the crane was tied up on another job. My welder had to burn through three rods just to get a clean root pass because the wind kept killing his gas shield. By 6pm my hands were shaking and I still had to re-torque 40 bolts on a flange that was sitting crooked. Super said we'd be back at it Thursday for the hydro test, which means I get one day off to recover. Anyone else get dragged out for an emergency repair that turned into a 15-hour slog?
