Vent: My old boss in Toledo insisted on a specific way to roll a tube sheet, but a trick with a ratchet strap saved a whole afternoon.

We had a stubborn 4-foot tube sheet that wouldn't seat right in a water tube boiler, so I looped a 2-inch ratchet strap around the drum and sheet and cinched it down, pulling it flush in about 20 minutes when hammering wasn't working.

Saw a buddy use a cargo strap to pull a warped flange square on a pump housing. Worked slick when nothing else would.

That "trick with a ratchet strap" is a great example. I used to be a hammer-and-lever guy, thinking force had to be direct. Seeing how a simple strap can apply even, wrapping pressure totally changed how I handle tricky fits now.

Strap beats hammer every time.
