A buddy in Phoenix made me see bonus holes totally different
I used to think bonus holes were just gimmicks, extra pins on par 3s or a random island green. But my buddy Dave, who plays a private club out in Phoenix, told me their 19th hole is actually a 95 yard pitch over a wash with a blind landing zone. He said it's not about winning, it's about the conversation you have while you're waiting for the group ahead, and that stuck with me. After he explained how they use it for settled ties and just friendly chaos, I started asking local courses about their versions. Turns out, one muni near me has a par 2 that changes the flag every week, and it's become my favorite way to end a round. Does anyone else have a bonus hole that's more about the social side than the score, or is that just us?
