Our club voted on a bonus hole design last month and I think we picked the boring one
At Ridgeview Golf Club in Ohio we had to choose between a 40 yard island green for the tiebreaker hole or the clubhouse style loop that plays back toward the parking lot, and the board went with the island green 5 to 2. It has been 3 weeks now and we have already lost 19 balls to the water, plus the drop zone is so close to the path that groups back up every single round. The loop option would have been cheaper and faster, but a few guys said it felt gimmicky. So which one actually makes a better bonus hole, the punishing island shot or the short loop that keeps play moving?
Wait, you guys are already down 19 balls in just 3 weeks? That's wild for a hole you only play when there's a tie. I'd be losing my mind watching guys fish balls out of the pond every single round. Maybe the board should've listened to the two guys who voted for the loop.
