Overheard a marshal say the 19th hole is only for show, now I doubt our club's version
I mean, I was waiting on the 8th tee box last Saturday and this older marshal told a buddy that any bonus hole over 80 yards is basically a gimmick, not a real test. Our club added a 142 yard par 3 off to the side by the creek, and I always thought it was a decent tiebreaker spot. He said courses only build them long so folks feel like they got extra value, but the real ones should be like a tricky 45 yard pitch or something. Does anyone else's course do a longer bonus hole, or is the short version actually the standard for settling bets?
