Pro tip: play the bonus hole first if the match is close, it breaks the tie math
Last Sunday at the county course in Maplewood we had a 4 way tie after 18. Instead of going back to 1 tee like normal, the club sent us to their weird par 3 bonus hole that sits sideways along the creek. My buddy insisted we play it cold, no practice putts. I grabbed my 8 iron and the wind was gusting maybe 15 mph. Missed the green left but chipped to 4 feet and sank the birdie. The other two guys hit into the hazard trying to force it. What I noticed is the bonus hole favors people who walk it first and check the pin placement, not the ones who treat it like a normal sudden death. Anyone else find that bonus holes play totally different depending on when in the round you hit them?
