That rainy Saturday at Riverside let us play the bonus hole 4 times and I changed my tune
Last Saturday our group got rained out of the main course at Riverside and the pro let us play the bonus hole 4 times while we waited it out (which I figured would be a waste of 20 minutes). Turns out playing a short oddball hole over and over with nothing on the line was the most fun I have had on a course this season, and now I think every club should keep one for days like that. So here is my question, does your home course treat the bonus hole as a real draw or just a goofy add on?
Ha, hard disagree on the bonus hole being a draw. Ours is a goofy add on and that is exactly why it works, nobody cares about their score there so the pressure is off. The second it counts for something it stops being fun and turns into every other hole.
