The bonus hole at my home course in Dayton got me out of a 3 year scoring rut
Our club added a bonus hole last summer, a short par 3 tucked behind the 9th green that only gets used for ties and Sunday fun rounds. I played it for the first time two weeks ago after I tied my buddy Dave on our normal 18, and something clicked. The hole is only 87 yards, but it has a tiny green and a bunker right in front, so you have to commit to a real shot. I stopped thinking about my score and just picked a club and swung, and I hit the green for the first time in months. Since then I've played it 6 more times with different groups, and my normal iron shots feel way less tense. Does anyone else use their bonus hole as a warmup or a way to shake off a bad round?
