Thought bonus holes were a gimmick until our tiebreaker in Tucson went sideways
I used to think the extra hole was just a silly club thing, but then our Saturday group at a course outside Tucson had a 3-way tie and the pro sent us to the bonus hole, a 90 yard par 3 with a tiny green. My tee shot rolled off the back into a drainage ditch, and I had to drop in mud with no relief, which cost me 2 strokes and the money. Standing there in wet socks, I finally got why people love it, because the weird little hole forced a real decision instead of another boring replay of 18. Has anyone else had the bonus hole flip a tie in a way a normal hole never would?
