Tried the par 3 island bonus hole at Lakeview, thought it was a cash grab until I holed out from 112 yards
My buddy dragged me out to Lakeview last Saturday claiming their bonus hole was 'life changing.' I rolled my eyes the whole walk there. $20 extra per round just for one weird hole? Seemed like the club fleecing us again.
Turns out it sits on a little island about 40 feet from shore with a cart path bridge. Green's barely 20 yards wide. Breeze was pushing left to right maybe 10 mph. I grabbed my 9 iron, clipped it pure, and watched it bounce twice before dropping in. Never made anything longer than 30 feet in my life.
Now I'm rethinking every gimmick hole I've ever skipped. Anyone else eat crow on a bonus hole they figured was just a tourist trap?
A hole in one on a 112 yard par 3 is cool and all but let's not pretend it changes what that hole is. Twenty bucks extra for one hole is still twenty bucks extra for one hole. You got lucky once and now the club has you hooked, which is exactly how these things work. One good shot does not make a cash grab into a good deal.
