A stranger in the library corrected my book choice and I'm still thinking about it
Last Tuesday at the downtown branch, I grabbed a popular thriller for our club's monthly pick. A man in his 70s sitting nearby glanced at the cover and said, "That one lies to you by page 20." He handed me a worn copy of a 1965 novel about a town covering up a flood, said it had no cheap twists. I read both books in the same week, and his choice made our group's debate twice as lively. Forty-two members showed up, the most we've had in three years. Anyone else ever had a complete stranger change your reading list for the better?
