Can we talk about the book club member who always hates the ending?

Last month at our library book club, this guy named Tom said the ending of 'The Road' was too fuzzy and ruined the whole story for me. He went on for ten minutes about how it needed a clear explanation. I realized he was just mad that it didn't wrap up like a TV show. Has anyone else had a member who misses the point of an ambiguous ending?

oh man the Inception ending got me too honestly but your comment about Tom reminds me of something that happened to my friend Sarah. she's in a different book club and this one guy there absolutely lost it at the end of 'Never Let Me Go' because he wanted a clear answer about what happened after that last scene. Sarah said he kept asking 'but where did she go' like it was some kind of mystery puzzle instead of the whole point being about accepting what you can't know. I guess some people just need things spelled out for them and that's fine but it does get old when they try to ruin it for everyone else who liked the ambiguity.

Did you ever notice that the people who hate fuzzy endings are the same ones who complain when a movie is "too artsy"? I'm probably that guy sometimes honestly... I got so mad at the end of Inception that I almost threw my book club snack across the room.
