Had a reader call out my take on the main character's choice

I was leading our Tuesday night debate at the downtown library when someone pointed out the hero's decision to leave wasn't selfish, it was survival motivated by trauma. She read a passage from page 187 that I had skimmed over, and it completely flipped how I saw the whole ending. Has anyone else had a group member change your view with a single page reference like that?

One librarian told me people listen worse during full moons, which honestly explains most of my Tuesday nights.

Honestly I've heard that before too. I read somewhere once that emergency rooms and police stations actually track more incidents during full moons. It sounds made up but then you see a customer absolutely lose it over a tiny thing and you check the calendar and sure enough it's a full moon. My neighbor who's a teacher swears her kids are extra wild those nights too. I don't know if it's real or just confirmation bias but it's funny how it keeps lining up.

That's happened to me more than once. I keep a library card in my wallet specifically so I can pull the book and check the exact passage people bring up.

Is it really that serious though? I can't imagine carrying a library card just to fact check random people's book quotes.
