Our book club just hit 50 straight meetings without a single DNF vote

Honestly, I was looking at our club's records from the Chicago public library branch where we meet, and we've read and finished every single book since 'The Overstory' back in 2021. Tbh, I thought for sure someone would have given up on something like 'Infinite Jest' or 'Ulysses', but the group power-through is real. Has your club ever had a streak like that, or does someone always tap out on the tough ones?

Wow, our club's only streak was everyone quitting 'Moby-Dick' by chapter three...

That 50 book streak sounds more like a problem than an achievement. Finishing every single book, no matter how bad or boring, just means nobody feels safe to say they hated it. My old club in Milwaukee had a rule where we could vote to drop a book halfway, and it made people way more honest during talks. Forcing through stuff like 'Ulysses' probably means half your club is just faking it to keep the streak alive.

Group power-through is real, we finished Gravity's Rainbow somehow.

How do you even pick books that everyone can stick with? Our group's best streak was like ten books before someone bailed on a super dense history one.
