Our book club's voting system totally crashed before we could pick next month's read

We tried using a simple online poll, but the link broke halfway through the week. Half the group wanted a new fantasy series, the other half insisted on a classic mystery. Has your group ever had a tech fail ruin the selection process?

...actually two books might not be the worst thing in the world, maybe it forces people to actually engage with something they normally wouldn't pick. I mean my group had a similar crash once and we ended up with a scifi book and a historical drama nobody was thrilled about at first, but half the people ended up liking the one they fought against. Sometimes the chaos works out better than the democratic vote, like you get more variety instead of the same popular genre winning every time.

Our poll glitched and we ended up reading two books.

Honestly, the real problem is picking which one to talk about first. If you start with the heavier book, people might be too tired to enjoy the lighter one later. But if you go light first, the serious discussion feels like a chore. My old group tried to mix themes once, like talking about a mystery novel and a true crime book together. It just made both chats feel shallow. You almost need two separate meetings, but who has time for that.

Yeah that's the worst. I mean you could just split the difference and do half the meetings on each book, idk.
