Our book club's whole vibe changed after we switched to Zoom

We used to meet at the library in town and argue for hours, but now half the group just logs off after 30 minutes. I mean, last month we were supposed to discuss 'Klara and the Sun' and two people had their cameras off the whole time. Has anyone else had their club fall apart a bit since going online?

Honestly sounds like your book club just evolved into a pet rating committee. Tbh the only character development happening is your cat learning to block the camera.

My book club just gave up and started a group chat where we post pictures of our pets instead. We read one book in 2020 and it's been downhill from there.

My last book club made it through exactly 17 pages of a mystery novel before someone posted a photo of their cat sleeping on a keyboard. That was two years ago, and now we just rank each other's pets on a scale of "fluffy" to "supreme fluffy.
