The audiobook narrator swap that saved our book club's October pick

Our group was split 6 to 4 on DNFing a dense 500-page novel, so I suggested we all listen to the same chapter on 1.5x speed with a different narrator, and suddenly everyone actually had opinions about the pacing, has anyone else tried speed-switching to break a stalemate?
