Took my book club 6 months to agree on a single book format

We spent half a year debating paperback vs ebook vs audiobook and it turned into this huge argument. Three people quit over it and one guy stormed out of a meeting because someone said audiobooks dont count as reading. We finally settled on rotating formats each month but it was way more drama than I expected. Has anyone else had a book club fight this hard over something so simple?

Honestly that sounds like way too much effort for something that should be fun. Maybe just let everyone pick for themselves and talk about whatever they actually read.
