Vent: I bought a $40 'reading guide' gadget that was just a plastic ruler
So my book club was reading this dense historical novel last month, and I kept losing my place in the paragraphs. I saw an ad online for this 'advanced reading guide,' a tool to help your eyes track lines. It cost $40 plus shipping. I figured it would help me get through the tough parts faster for our debate. It arrived yesterday, and it's literally a thin, clear piece of plastic, like a ruler you'd get in a kid's school supply pack. No special features, no light, nothing. I wasted that money because I was stressed about keeping up with the group's discussion pace. Has anyone else fallen for a totally useless book-related product that promised to make reading easier?

Oh, that's the fancy version of the piece of paper I use to underline text. At least a ruler from the dollar store would have measurements on it.

What's wrong with just using a folded receipt?
