Vent: That popular book club pick "The Midnight Library" was totally overhyped for us
My friend Sarah swore the ending would hit different for everyone, but our whole group of 8 people found it too predictable after chapter 5. Has anyone else had a recommended book completely flop with your club?

Wait, eight of you all saw the twist coming by chapter 5? That's wild to me... I got completely blindsided by the ending and was openly crying on a bus.

Man that reminds me of the time I was reading this thriller on a flight and got so caught up I totally missed my connecting call. Ended up sitting in the terminal for two extra hours just to finish it, lol. I think some people are just wired to pick up on foreshadowing stuff, you know? Like my buddy can guess movie endings in the first ten minutes every time, drives me nuts. But honestly, crying on a bus is a badge of honor if the story hit you that hard.
