Bone folder split after 2 weeks, do I fix it or switch materials?

Picked up a nice bone folder from a craft fair in Portland last month, figured it would last forever like my old plastic one did. Two weeks in, the tip cracked right down the middle while I was pressing a hinge on a journal, so I had to switch to a dull butter knife to finish the job. Is this just bad luck with natural materials, or should I go back to synthetic and accept they all wear out eventually?

Real bone can be hit or miss depending on how it was cured, but a crack that fast sounds more like a bad piece than a material flaw. Plenty of folks use bone folders for years without that happening.
