I finally tried a curved creasing tool after 5 years of scoffing
Picked up a cheap one at a Portland craft fair last month just to prove a point, and now my hinges sit flatter than anything I got with a bone folder. Anyone else resist a tool for ages and then feel dumb when it actually works?
Does the result actually change the process though, or does it just make you feel better about it? I get that a finished piece can look great, but if it took twice as long or ate up way more material than it should have, I still call that a win for the skeptic. I've had projects where the final thing came out fine, but I knew the method was sloppy and I'd never repeat it. Tools can cover up bad habits, but they don't fix them. So I'm more interested in whether the workflow got smoother, not just the shiny end product.
