PSA: My old glue pot gave out and I tried a thrift store crock pot from Goodwill

It was a Hamilton Beach model I got for five bucks, and I figured it would work fine for keeping my paste warm. After about an hour on the low setting, the paste got way too thin and almost watery, which I think is because the 'low' on this thing is still too hot for bookbinding. I learned that not all warm settings are the same, and now I'm looking for a proper glue pot. Has anyone found a good brand that holds a steady, gentle heat?

Yeah, thrift store pots can be so unpredictable... ended up using a cheap mini wax warmer from a craft store and it's been perfect for keeping glue at the right temp.

Nah, I've had the opposite luck with those warmers. They always seem to burn my glue. Sticking with my old thrift pot, @phoenix_lewis, it's just more reliable for me.

What kind of glue are you trying to melt? I had that burning problem with hot glue sticks until I switched to a lower temp model. Some of those warmers only have one heat setting and it's way too high for delicate stuff.
