Round spines vs flat spines, which one do you actually swear by?
I've been binding for about 5 years now and I used to think flat backs were the only way to go for a clean modern look. But after doing a run of 12 journals for a wedding in Portland last summer, I tried rounding the spines with a hammer and it changed how the books open. The rounded ones lay flatter in the hand and the covers don't stress at the hinge as much. Am I crazy for ditching flat spines for good, or does anyone else have a strong preference for one over the other?
