Am I the only one who thinks misting plants twice a day is overhyped?

My neighbor told me to mist my ferns every morning and night, but after a month I got mold on the soil and the leaves turned yellow. I stopped misting and just water the roots now, and they look way healthier. Anyone else drop misting and see better results?

yeah I had the exact same issue with my calatheas. everyone online swears by misting but all it did for me was turn the leaves crispy on the edges and grow mold on the top of the soil. I switched to just bottom watering and a humidity tray nearby and they bounced back way better. honestly think a lot of this misting advice is just people repeating stuff without actually testing it. if your plants are happy without it just keep doing what works.
