Caught a bit of a podcast where they called plants 'quiet roommates'
I was listening to a gardening podcast on my drive home from work. The host said, "Your plants are just quiet roommates that ask for water and light." It hit me that I'd been treating my houseplants like decor, not living things sharing my space. Now I look at my Boston fern in the corner totally differently. Has anyone else had a moment that changed how you see your plants?

Oh, the stubborn performance artist bit actually kills me. So does that mean your spider plant is just the quiet roommate who never cleans up but leaves you passive aggressive notes about the thermostat? Now I'm wondering if my peace lily that droops every three days exactly is actually just a drama queen who knows exactly what it's doing.

Remembered my friend's cactus that flowered once after five years. He called it a "stubborn performance artist who works on its own schedule." Kind of ruined regular houseplants for me, because now I'm just waiting for my spider plant to drop its big act. It's probably just going to keep making babies, which is its version of a lazy Tuesday. Makes you realize they all have their own weird little routines we just don't notice.

Spider plants are just the chill roommates of the plant world. They're never going to give you a big show, @hayden_craig95. You've got to appreciate their low-key vibe.
