DAE remember killing every houseplant you touched, then turning into the person who talks to their pothos?
I used to think I had a black thumb, and honestly I proved it about six times over. Between 2016 and 2018 I went through four succulents, a fiddle leaf fig, and a basil plant that died in like nine days, all in my old apartment in Sacramento where the only window faced a parking garage. I watered on a schedule because some blog told me to, which meant I drowned half of them and let the other half dry to dust. Then my neighbor Doris, who is 74 and has a porch full of orchids, told me to stop watering on a calendar and just stick my finger in the dirt first. That one tip changed everything for me. Now I have 23 plants crammed into one east facing window and I actually check the soil before I touch the watering can, and half of them are cuttings I grew from leaves. My fiddle leaf from 2019 is taller than my bookshelf now. Anyway, I keep hearing people say they kill everything, so what was the plant that finally survived for you, and did it take a few tries?
