I finally killed my spider plant after 12 years of healthy growth

Watered it with tap water instead of letting it sit out overnight like I used to, and within a week every tip turned brown and crispy. Has anyone else lost an old plant to something this dumb and simple?

Twelve years is a long time, I used to be smug about tap water but not anymore.

Everything's gotten worse and we just accept it now.

@gavin228 yeah, "gotten worse" pretty much nails it. My grocery bill is up like 40% and the produce goes bad in two days now. I just shrug and toss it, what else can you do.
