I swapped my tap water for collected rainwater on my Boston fern and the change in just two weeks was crazy.

The leaves went from brown tips to a deep, solid green, so if you're using city water on sensitive plants, maybe give rain a try (has anyone else seen this big of a difference with a simple switch?).

My fern looked like @harper914's spider plant until I tried rainwater too.

Years of tap water and you just accepted the crispy ends as a style choice. That's a level of plant owner denial I didn't know was possible. My spider plant would stage a full revolt if I did that. You basically have a living warning sign for hard water on your windowsill.

My poor spider plant is basically a chlorine test strip at this point. I've been using tap water for years and just accepted the crispy ends as part of its look. Maybe I should finally try collecting some rain before it turns into a tumbleweed.

Wait, you can use tap water for those? I always thought they needed filtered.
