I thought my new orchid was a goner after its roots turned to mush in that cheap plastic pot.

It took me over a year and switching to a clay pot with a bark mix I got from a grower in Tampa to finally see a new flower spike.

What kind of bark mix did you use?

See, I've had the opposite happen. I grabbed that cheap bag from the big box store last year and it's still going strong. It really depends on what's underneath it and how thick you lay it down. Mine was over cardboard and I did a good three-inch layer. Maybe the brand or even the batch makes a difference too.

Oh, just some cheap stuff from the garden center. Honestly, it's not holding up that great.
