I thought talking to plants was nonsense until my fiddle leaf fig put out three new leaves in a week.

Last month, my fiddle leaf fig in the living room looked sad and hadn't grown in ages. I read a study from a university that said plants might respond to sound vibrations, so I figured I'd try talking to it while I watered. I just told it about my day for a few minutes, nothing special. After about a week, I noticed three brand new leaves starting to unfurl. It could totally be a coincidence with the light or something, but it was a cool moment. Has anyone else tried this with a stubborn plant and seen a change?

My snake plant perked up after I started complaining to it.

Honestly, could it just be the extra attention made you water it better?

Wait, you think I'm actually good at remembering to water plants? My track record is terrible, I killed a cactus once by forgetting it existed. Are you saying the only reason my peace lily is alive is because I'm talking to it more and that makes me notice it needs water? That's kind of a sad but maybe true point.

Tbh, maybe my plants just like the sound of my voice because I'm boring them to sleep. I talk to my peace lily about the weather and it hasn't died yet, so I'm calling it a win.
