My friend's 'just water it' advice versus my new moisture meter
I overwatered my fiddle leaf fig for a year based on his guess, but the $15 meter showed the soil was still wet from the last time. Anyone else find a tool that saved a plant you were killing with kindness?

What brand of meter did you get, and how far down do you usually check? I've seen some cheap ones give weird readings if you hit a patch of fertilizer.

My neighbor did the same thing with her peace lily, watering it every week. A cheap meter proved the soil was still soaked a full inch down.
