My neighbor's plant tip actually worked for once

Old Mrs. Chen from two doors down told me to put crushed eggshells around my tomato plants to stop the slugs. I figured it was just one of those old wives tales but tried it anyway. Has anyone else had this actually work or did I just get lucky with the weather?

Oh man, I crushed mine into what I'd call "medium chunks" - not quite powder but definitely not just smashed with a hammer. The shells need to be sharp enough to cut up those slimy guys. I did my whole raised bed border and I swear I went from picking slugs off every morning to maybe seeing one every few days. I also added coffee grounds around the base of the plants and that seemed to help even more. The combo really messed with their slime trail navigation, at least in my garden.

How fine did you crush them up, or just kinda smashed?
