Overheard a guy at the Austin plant swap say pothos roots 'don't count,' and now I can't stop thinking about it
I was at a plant swap on South Congress in Austin two weekends ago and this guy with a wagon full of golden pothos told a newbie that roots grown in water 'don't count' as real roots and she shouldn't bother keeping them. I've rooted maybe 30 cuttings in water on my kitchen sill and half of them went into soil just fine, so I don't get where that rule comes from. Is he talking about the roots being weaker, or is this one of those things people just repeat? Would love to hear if anyone has actually lost a plant moving it from water to dirt.
