Took me 2 years to admit pruning at dusk does more harm than good for my roses
Everyone in my local garden club swore by evening pruning to avoid sun scorch. I figured it was just old wives' tale stuff since my grandmother always pruned at noon. Then I lost a whole row of hybrid teas to fungal rot last spring. My neighbor Jeff suggested I try morning cuts after the dew dries. Did that for one full season and the difference is night and day. The wounds heal faster and I stopped seeing that black spot spread. Anyone else have a stubborn gardening habit they held onto for way too long? What finally made you switch?
