I finally found the fix for my $40 humidifier that kept shutting off every 20 minutes

I almost tossed it in the trash last month until I ran plain white vinegar through the tank and let it sit overnight. Now it runs all night and the hard water crust in my Milwaukee apartment is gone, so has anyone else found a cheap fix that saved a dumb buy from the dumpster?
