Paid $400 for a used drone to film my own roof, then a roofer in Omaha told me one sentence that made me return it
I bought a $400 used drone off Marketplace to do my own roof inspection instead of paying a pro, and I felt pretty smart about it for about two weeks. Then the guy at a roofing supply counter in Omaha asked what I was looking for and I told him about my setup, and he said "you can see the shingles but you can't see the decking, and that's where the water goes." So I boxed the drone back up and sold it, and now I pay the $150 inspection fee twice a decade instead. Half of me thinks I gave up too easy, the other half thinks I was just filming a roof that was already fine. Anyone else get talked out of a DIY by someone who knew better, or did you keep at it and prove them wrong?
