Client handed me a level and asked if I was 'qualified' to use it
Last Tuesday I was repointing a garden wall in Clifton, NJ when the homeowner walks out with my own torpedo level. He said 'you look young, you know this goes bubble side up right?' I laughed, took it, and set it on the course I'd just laid. It was dead perfect, and he just stared for 10 seconds then offered me lemonade. Anyone else get questioned by clients mid-job like that, or is it just me?
That lemonade was your real certification, huh? Did he actually ask to see your license after that, or did the level basically settle the whole argument?
Man, that level basically ended the debate right there. He never even brought up the license again, just gave me a nod and walked off like it was some secret handshake. Honestly, that little lemonade stand moment probably did more for me than any piece of paper ever could.
