Had to pick between a $400 silica vac and a dust mask system last month

I was on a job in Austin and the dust was just everywhere from cutting brick. I couldn't decide between dropping cash on a good vac setup like a HEPA rig or just going all in on a fresh respirator system. I went with the mask because it was cheaper upfront, but man, after three days of cleanup I wish I had the vac. Has anyone else regretted skimping on dust control gear?

Dust gets EVERYWHERE with brick cutting. I've seen guys blow dust out of their truck months later still finding it in cracks. The thing people don't talk about is how that fine silica dust settles into your lungs permanent like. A mask seals your face but that vac catches the cloud before it even gets airborne. Big difference in the long haul for your health not just the cleanup.
