I hit 500,000 bricks laid last week and it hit me different

I've been keeping a rough count in my notebook for years, just a tally every time I finish a job. Last Thursday I totaled it up and realized I crossed half a million bricks since I started apprenticing in 2006. That number felt huge, like all those sore mornings and busted knuckles actually added up to something. Has anyone else ever tracked their lifetime count and gotten surprised by the total?

Respectfully gotta disagree here. Counting bricks like that just feels like turning hard work into a number game. Half a million is cool and all but the real win is the skill you built and the people you worked with, not some tally in a notebook.

Real win is the skill you built and the people you worked with" - okay, but is it really that deep? Some guys just like seeing a big number add up, it's not like they're missing the meaning of life by counting bricks. You can value the experience without acting like a tally sheet is some kind of philosophical failure.
