Spent $90 on a laser level and it paid for itself on one fireplace

Been laying brick for 12 years and always used a string line for everything. Picked up a cheap green laser level off Amazon because an interior fireplace job in Nashville needed perfect corners on a curved hearth. It saved me a full afternoon of redoing the third course, probably 4 hours of work. Anyone else finally cave and buy one, or still trust the old methods?

I was the biggest holdout, stubborn as a mule with my string and a prayer. Then I got a cheap laser for a basement stair job and I swear I spent the first hour just staring at the red line like it was magic. I tripped over a bucket because I was so busy watching it, nearly took out the whole level. Now I'm that guy who brings it to small jobs and my old string just sits in the truck looking sad. It's like going from a flip phone to a smartphone, you don't know how much time you're wasting until you stop wasting it.
