Honestly, my whole view on cheap food changed at a gas station in Boise
Tbh, I was broke and grabbed a $2.99 frozen burrito for dinner. It was awful, just salty mush. That night I realized I spent about $90 a month on that junk. The next day I bought a 10lb bag of rice, some beans, and a big thing of spices for $15 total. Now I make a huge pot of beans and rice every Sunday for maybe $5. It lasts me most of the week and tastes way better. Anyone else have a moment like that where a single bad meal made you switch up your whole kitchen routine?

Used to grab those gas station taquitos all the time, thought I was saving money. Ate one that was pure grease and felt sick for hours. Switched to making my own egg and potato breakfast wraps at home, costs pennies and actually fills me up.

Oh man "pure grease" is exactly right. I had one from a convenience store that left an oil slick in the foil. Never again.

My cousin swears by gas station hot dogs, the kind that spin for six hours. He ate one before a long drive and had to pull over twice. The second time was at one of those rest stops with just a vending machine and a map. He said the map was more useful than the hot dog.
