I used to buy fresh herbs for every recipe, now I grow a few on my windowsill

A couple years back, I'd spend like $3 on a pack of fresh basil or cilantro, use a tiny bit, and watch the rest go bad in my fridge. It felt like throwing money away every time. Last spring, I picked up a few small pots of basil, mint, and parsley from a local garden center for about $12 total. Now I just snip off what I need for my pasta or rice dishes. Has anyone else tried growing their own kitchen herbs to cut down on waste?

My cat ate my chives and now he has surprisingly fresh breath.

Can't get past your cat snacking on chives. Mine would probably just sneeze and walk away.

My buddy's rosemary plant took over his whole kitchen window.

Total waste of time and counter space.
