My friend swore that rinsing canned beans saves money. I tested it and here's what happened.

Ha honestly I'm the worst cook ever so if rinsing beans saves even a penny I'm all for it. I once tried to save money by buying the giant bulk can of beans and ended up with bean juice all over my kitchen counter and my cat. So yeah I'm rooting for your friend's theory here, I need all the help I can get.

Wait, is nobody going to point out that rinsing beans isn't just about saving money? The can liquid is basically bean slime full of salt and starch. If you don't rinse it, you're adding that salty goo to whatever you're cooking. So your buddy might be saving a penny on beans but then he's probably over-salting his dish and ruining it. The real win is that rinsing makes your food taste better, not just cheaper. Plus that cat incident sounds like a nightmare, so maybe stick with the small cans for now.

Bean slime" lmao that's the best description I've ever heard for that stuff. Also @michaelgrant I feel your pain with the cat incident, bean juice on a cat sounds like a level of chaos I'm not ready for.
