My grocery bill in 2019 versus now is a different world
Back then, I could make a big pot of chili for about eight dollars. The main cost was a pound of ground beef for maybe four bucks, and the rest was cheap beans and spices. Now, that same beef is over seven dollars, and the canned beans went up fifty cents each. I had to switch to using a lot more lentils and dry beans I soak myself to keep it under ten dollars. Has anyone else had to completely change their go-to cheap recipe ingredients?

It's wild how much meal planning has changed just to stay on budget. My chili recipe looks totally different now too, with way more beans and veggies. You're definitely not alone in having to swap out the old staples.
