Pro tip: I fed my family of four for $75 last week.

I did it by making a huge pot of lentil soup and using the leftovers for three different meals. Anyone else have a cheap base recipe that stretches this far?

Oh that's such a good method. I do the same thing with a big batch of rice and beans, it's crazy how many meals you can spin off from one pot. I'll make burrito bowls one night, then fry some up with eggs for breakfast, and mix the rest into a soup or a casserole. It feels like magic making one grocery trip work that hard.

My mom used to do that with a giant meatloaf.

Used to think cooking one big thing was just boring leftovers. Then I tried roasting a whole chicken on Sunday. Had it with potatoes that night, made chicken salad for lunches, and used the bones for soup later. It completely changed how I shop and plan meals now.
