Saw a chart that says rice and beans have every amino acid you need
I was looking up cheap meal ideas last week and found this USDA breakdown saying rice and beans together make a complete protein. Been eating it almost every day for lunch and I feel fine. Anyone else lean on this combo to keep grocery bills down?

yo the rice and beans thing is legit, i been doing it for years too. its wild how something so simple can cover all your protein needs without needing fancy meat or supplements. honestly i think this whole "you need expensive food to be healthy" thing is a trap. like how people spend $12 on a smoothie bowl when a banana and oatmeal do the same job. plus eating consistent cheap meals like that makes life easier, no scrambling for what to cook. our ancestors were onto something with those basic combos.

Every amino acid you need" sounds like the start of a cult newsletter, but hey, at least the snacks are cheap. I’m in the same boat though my gut biome is basically a rice and bean factory at this point.

Drew's got a point about the cult newsletter thing, but the rice and bean combo actually does have all the essential amino acids if you're eating them together in the right amounts. It's one of those old school food pairings that works surprisingly well, like how you need beans with corn to get a complete protein. The gut biome part is probably more interesting than people give it credit for though, since a simple diet like that tends to keep things regular and predictable.
