TIL ground turkey is way cheaper than ground beef for tacos
I used to always grab ground beef for taco night, but last month at Walmart I saw ground turkey was $3.50 a pound while beef was over $5. Decided to try it even though I thought it'd be dry. I added a little olive oil and extra seasoning and honestly couldn't tell the difference. My family didn't even notice, and I saved like $6 on that one meal. Has anyone else swapped meats and had it work out better than expected?

Makes sense though. Grocery prices are wild right now and people are figuring out little swaps everywhere. My buddy switched to pork shoulder for his weekly chili and says it's actually better. Feels like we've all been trained to think certain meats are "correct" for certain meals. But when you actually try it, half the time the cheaper option works just fine. That's how it is with a lot of stuff honestly, not just food.

Yeah exactly, I've done the same swap. @martin.riley is right that we get stuck on what's "supposed" to be in a dish, but ground turkey works great for tacos if you just add a touch of oil and extra seasoning to keep it from drying out.

Buddy of mine tried ground chicken in his spaghetti sauce last month. Said his wife didn't even notice until he told her, and now it's their go to.
